Don't Start A Business Without Doing These

Listen up. Before you dive into starting a business make sure you read this blog post this the end. Do you know how you see those people, on media, like Instagram and Facebook? They showcase the lifestyle of entrepreneurs. Fancy cars like Ferraris and Bentleys exotic vacation spots, beautiful homes... It's tempting to want all of that for yourself. You think, "I'll start a business like them!". Hold on are you truly prepared? Do you really know if you're ready to be an entrepreneur? Here are five warning signs that indicate you might not be quite ready to venture into your business.

1. If you don't have any money it's probably not the time, to start a business.

If you don't have any money it's not advisable to start a business. If you rely on an income, like blood flowing through your veins then starting a business may not be the choice for you. Why? Because it takes time for a business to develop and generate profits. If you believe that starting a business will instantly bring in money within a week, four weeks or even a month that mindset is more suited for an employee. As an employee you receive your paycheck every two weeks or at the end of the month. However as an entrepreneur it doesn't work like that. It might take six months or, up to two years before your business starts making profits. In the meantime what are your options? You still need to eat and pay bills right? If you currently have no funds what can you do? You should consider getting a job or starting a business because growing a business requires time, effort and indeed some financial investment. My advice is always this; prioritize taking care of your immediate cash flow needs before embarking on building an empire.

Make sure to prioritize your income before anything.

2. Another important indicator is to avoid starting a business if you lack an understanding of the industry

Before diving, into any business venture there's a question I always ask; why you and why now? So let me ask you now. What motivates you to embark on this journey? If your answer revolves around making money chances are you might face some challenges. It's crucial to understand what sets you apart and qualifies you for this industry at this moment. It's not about stumbling upon a lucrative idea on social media and deciding to jump in. Take a step back. Think deeply about why it should be you venturing into this field now. Making money in any industry requires an understanding of that field. If you lack familiarity it's essential to invest time in learning the ins and outs of the industry before taking the plunge. Let's say opening a restaurant is your goal (although I must admit it might not be the path). Would it be wise to dive into opening one without gaining practical experience by working at one? Familiarizing yourself with the day to day operations and understanding what it truly means to work in a restaurant. These are all steps, toward success.

3. Now let me highlight another flag. Starting a business demands stamina and endurance

I'm talking about having a resilience to withstand pain. Years ago my mentor and I had a conversation, about what it takes to be an entrepreneur. He asked me "Ukeme, what do you think is the quality of an entrepreneur?" I listed things like talent, teamwork and good ideas. However, he. Said that the number one quality is the ability to endure long term pain. We didn't discuss cars or big houses; instead we focused on enduring pain over time. Are you willing to make sacrifices? What are you prepared to give up in order to achieve success and build your business? Let me share something about entrepreneurs I know; most of them have experienced prolonged periods of pain before achieving a small taste of success. Everyone loves talking about the side of entrepreneurship. Nobody wants to talk about the struggles. Are you willing to endure long term pain? Those sleepless nights, worries, about how you'll pay off your debts? Are you comfortable, with that? Carrying such a responsibility, on your shoulders can be quite burdensome.

4.  Here's another warning sign to consider; if you desire free time starting a business may not be the best choice.

When you decide to start a business you may initially think that you can leave your job and enjoy the freedom of being an entrepreneur or a business owner. However it's important to realize that this kind of freedom takes time and effort. It might take years a decade before you can truly experience some level of freedom. In the next five to ten years it won't be easy. First and foremost your own salary will come last as you prioritize paying everyone involved in the business before yourself. So if you believe that starting a business will bring riches think again. Running your business means there is no fixed nine to five schedule. If you're already a business owner or an entrepreneur I invite you to share your thoughts in the comment section and join the discussion, on this topic. Let's awaken people to the reality that entrepreneurship demands dedication, it's not just limited to hours of the day but remains on your mind 24/7. When taking time off from work it's hard to disconnect because I'm sure many of us can relate to that feeling.

You are contemplating your business pondering ways to attract customers considering the needs of your team and employees and grappling with cash flow challenges. Unfortunately time is not, on your side because if you lack the skills initially the learning curve can be quite steep. It takes years to gain a sense and understanding of what works in your business to figure out the secret, to being profitable. Then there's still a long way to go in terms of growth. Forget about the nine to five job. Working just five days a week. Being an entrepreneur means working round the clock every day of the week. It's a demanding lifestyle that requires passion and dedication otherwise you won't be willing to make the sacrifices because it can be incredibly challenging.

5. Another warning sign to consider is if you lack the ability to close deals starting a business might not be the choice for you.

I personally believe that the ability to close deals is crucial, in any business endeavor. Whether it is acquiring customers, negotiating financing terms finding vendors or securing partnerships, for business promotion the art of closing plays a pivotal role. Without the skill and mindset to close deals at any given moment one may not be adequately qualified to thrive in the business world. Regardless of your industry or the products and services you offer closing is a skill that should not be underestimated.

Therefore these five warning signs serve as indicators. However if after considering all these factors you still have a desire and willingness to pay the necessary price then go ahead and get started on your journey.
