How to start a business for under a $500

You know there are people who when you meet them can't help but talk about their favorite sports teams, local charities, the church they go to their political beliefs and all sorts of other stuff... If you're, with me I'd love for you to consider starting a business. That's what I want for you – to help you kickstart your venture. So today in this article I'm going to share some insights on how you can start a business with, more than five hundred dollars... Trust me when I say that I'll break it down in a way that has never been so simple before. Lets dive into it.

There are essentially six ways through which you can turn what you offer to consumers into money and profits for yourself. Off providing a service is one option. Offering something directly. Second is sharing your expertise by giving advice or guidance. People are willing to pay for your knowledge and experience. Thirdly selling products is another avenue. Buying them at a price and selling them at a price point is the name of the game here. Fourthly educating others can be imparting knowledge or skills through courses or workshops that can generate income. Fifthly providing an experience can be monetized as creating an atmosphere or event that people are willing to pay for is quite lucrative. Lastly (but not least) entertainment holds potential. Offering content or performances that people are happy to spend their money on.

All these six aspects mentioned above are things we all spend money on every day; they represent opportunities for you to find ways of making money for yourself.

Service

Alright lets get started with auto detailing services. It's an affordable way to begin. All you need is some equipment costing more than $500. You can start providing car cleaning services in your community. Begin by charging, around $20 $30 per car. People prefer this personalized service over car washes.

Once you establish a customer base opportunities will arise. You might find yourself cleaning cars at one location or even receiving requests from neighboring households asking if you could clean their cars too. When servicing businesses and office buildings reach out to the building managers or owners offering to provide car cleaning services for their employees as a perk. In return ask for a 20% discount for all the tenants in the building.

As your network expands you'll find yourself servicing more buildings – even ten or twenty of them! With an increasing number of people joining your team to help clean cars at locations your monthly earnings can grow significantly. Before you know it you could be making from three to ten thousand dollars, per month by starting with mobile detailing.

I used to think about being a chef and learning how to cook. I never really got the hang of it. However there was this one time when I went to a restaurant called 610 Magnolia, in Kentucky with ten of my friends. It turned out to be quite an outing costing us $3,300 after the Kentucky Derby. It was there that I had the chance to meet Arnold Palmer, who happened to be at the restaurant. The place had a vibe so I asked him how it all started. He shared that he use to cook and that people from the community would pay him $200 for a seven course meal every Friday night at his house. With ten people attending each time he would make $2,000 every Friday night. Eventually he decided to turn his house into a restaurant and named it 610 Magnolia because of its address and popularity, as a result of his cooking skills.

I recently came across a conversation, at a baseball game I attended with my child. There was a gentleman sitting next to me who used to play football. We started discussing programs for baseball and he mentioned how coaching young kids has turned into a lucrative business locally. It seems that there are individuals with college baseball experience or expertise in the field who are now offering coaching sessions for children charging fifty dollars for a 30 minute session. I was surprised by the price. Apparently parents are willing to pay because they don't have the time or expertise to teach their kids themselves. It's not just limited to coaching there is also money to be made in providing massage services to offices. In fact I once had people come into my office and offer massages to around 20 people at fifty dollars per person making it a thousand dollars in total. It's quite impressive how much money can be earned if you have the skills and knowledge, in these areas.

Expertise

If you're interested, in becoming a notary there's a demand for people who can help with notarizing documents and collecting fingerprint signatures. You can charge $10 or $15 per notarization. Even have them cover the cost of gas. Another option worth considering is getting your estate or insurance license. Personally I pursued the insurance route without having a four year or two year degree. It became my area of expertise. I gained knowledge in insurance and security theory, which allowed me to excel in selling insurance policies and investments. Insurance companies even compensated me for my expertise. If you're someone who has experience as a security guard maybe due to your size or training, in boxing or martial arts you might want to explore opportunities to become a security guard. Give it a try!

I've noticed that some of your colleagues have been successful, in ventures. Have you considered starting a security guard business or becoming a trainer? Another lucrative opportunity could be offering translation services for individuals who need help communicating in languages. There is a demand for this as demonstrated by a woman I met at Harvard who built a thriving business solely focused on translation. She earns a $35 million annually by providing translation services to businesses and assisting hospitals with language barriers, during questionnaires and consultations. The translators work remotely from their homes covering a range of languages.

Sale

Back, in the day people were all about buying things like t shirts, flowers and fidget spinners... One product that really stood out was something called Clipping Talk. This was back in the year 2000 when phones didn't have built in speakerphones or Bluetooth. With Clipping Talk you could link it to a radio station like 88.7. Clip it onto your phone. Whenever someone called you their voice would come out of the speakers. You could talk to them as if you had Bluetooth. It was like a Bluetooth system, from the days.

I would consider buying it for five dollars. Then selling it for twenty bucks each. I can't even begin to tell you how many of them I managed to sell when I was, in the securities industry. It's like finding a product buying it at prices and then selling it at retail to make a profit. Speaking of teaching have you ever thought about offering language lessons? Maybe you have expertise in instruments or teaching methods that could be valuable. Teaching kids how to read and write through tutoring is quite a business these days. On another note personal defense classes are gaining popularity in communities. Imagine starting your group class where ten people show up and you teach them self defense techniques. You can demonstrate what to do if someone attacks you and how to effectively protect yourself. There is definitely a market, for this kind of knowledge.

Experience

Can you recommend a fun experience, for a boot camp class at 6 o'clock in the morning? I'm looking for something at a park. I'm willing to pay $20 per class. Around ten people usually attend so it could be an opportunity to earn around $150. Apart from getting a workout I'd love it if there were enjoyable activities like hiking involved. Maybe you're an expert on hiking trails in the area. Could you share some of those hidden gems with me? I'm even willing to pay $100 for a three hour hike, with all the equipment. It would be great if you could guide our group to those spots you know well. Additionally if you happen to offer surfing lessons that would be amazing! Most people are fascinated by surfing. Feel intimidated by it. So if you're able to provide a safe experience I would gladly pay for it.

Entertainment

You know when I watch YouTube I often hear people saying that educational videos don't get attention as those that make us laugh. So here's an idea; why not turn education into a form of entertainment? You could create a business centered around art classes, where people can learn to paint while having a time. Imagine someone guiding you through the process of drawing or painting all while making you giggle. This kind of thing is happening everywhere! People are charging $20 for their paintings or $30, for their drawings and folks happily pay for it. And hey if you have some dance moves up your sleeve there's potential to make money! I remember being in Miami on South Beach and seeing this couple dancing right in the middle of the strip. They had set up a bucket where people could drop in some cash. $20 $15 and by the end of the night at 1 o'clock, in the morning they had made a cool $400 just from dancing! Can you believe it? Dancing all night. Making money doing what they love. There really are creative ways to earn an income!

I came across some YouTube stars who were singers. They had performances that people were willing to pay to see them. I remember buying a CD from this guy, from Argentina and his brother in Santa Monica. They had a way of playing the guitar that I had never seen before. I paid $20 for that CD. It became my go to music in the car for a year. There was one song, in particular that spoke to me on a level. Even though this artist wasn't well known I didn't hesitate to support his work with my purchase.

On another note have you ever considered doing tricks as a way to make money? There are ways you can entertain people and earn some income. Take some time to explore options and find something that resonates with you. Once you've found your passion you can even turn it into your business venture.
